LOPA Donor Care Center

Established in 1988, the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency, also known as LOPA, is a non-profit dedicated to “Making Life Happen” through organ and tissue donations. In 2018, LOPA moved its operations from two locations in Metairie to new building in Covington. The result is the LOPA Donor Care Center. Designed by Ritter Maher Architects and CDI Solutions, the new three-story, 66,000-square feet facility not only serves as an organ and tissue recovery center but is also the organization’s state headquarters, providing a centralized location for employees.

The spacious location and approximately $14 million facility gave LOPA the opportunity to change how they conduct business through on-site operating and procedure rooms and a modern work environment for employees. The first floor houses the surgery center and the 24/7 call center while the second and third floors provide ample office space. CDI Solutions turned to AOS to provide furnishings for the entire design, including the lobby, multiple lounge areas, break rooms, private offices and workstations. A variety of unique open plan configurations support individual needs and foster a collaborative culture. Personal retreat areas are also included for privacy, phone calls and focused work. Private offices utilize ergonomic solutions, including height-adjustable desks and monitor arms, to create a healthy work environment. Additionally, think tanks, boardrooms and a large flex space provide plenty of meeting areas that can be reconfigured for executive meetings, training and events. For over three decades, LOPA has been a resource, leading donation efforts and spreading awareness to the public. Now their new headquarters take an important step forward as they prepare for future growth and continue heal and save lives across Louisiana.
