Baker Donelson: Baton Rouge

As huge file rooms of paper are on their way out, collaborative spaces and flexibility are on their way in. Technological advancements have digitized entire file rooms, opening up room for more employee amenities. Coleman Partners Architects employed this shift in choice-based experiences for the interior renovation of Baker Donelson’s Baton Rouge office. With its modern aesthetic and prestige location—an entire floor in a downtown Baton Rouge high-rise—the space makes a strong first impression.

The design goes beyond traditional law environments, adopting progressive and efficient practices. Collaboration and teamwork are an important part of the legal process so the office features two small conference rooms, a large conference room and a reconfigurable training room. Private offices though remain an integral design aspect for client confidentiality and independent work. Meanwhile, specialists and other office personnel are seated at workstations for day-to-day tasks. As competition for talent remains high, the workplace is an important factor in attracting and retaining employees. Baker Donelson’s space includes additional offices for internships and mentorships, providing a modern work environment for the future workforce.

A large break room, featuring a coffee bar and café seating, a telephone booth and an additional small kitchen present re-imagined public areas and shared amenity spaces that create valuable experiences for both clients and employees. Through a residential aesthetic mixed with a neutral color palette and clean lines, Coleman Partners creates an elegant expression of the firm’s brand and values and a hospitable, welcoming work environment.
