As a key player in workforce development, Nunez Community College is preparing its students for the anticipated influx of industry jobs across the region. To support this mission, the college constructed the Student Testing & Career Counseling Center (STCCC), designed by Holly & Smith Architects, to establish a bold new identity and a student-centered welcoming facility. Strategically located across from the existing administrative building, the STCCC consolidates essential services into one centrally located facility, providing students with a supportive starting point for academic guidance, career counseling, and testing services.
The dynamic 17,000-square-foot facility features an industrial aesthetic that reflects the school’s focus on training for industrial trades. The open-plan counseling area fosters a casual setting for advising meetings, while private offices provide space for more focused and confidential discussion. Additionally, a tiered classroom supports specialized training, and a dedicated testing center ensures a quiet and efficient environment for students to complete their assessments. The flexible meeting and conference rooms also double as community-use spaces, making them a versatile resource for both academic and public functions. This thoughtfully designed building plays a crucial role in enhancing Nunez’s student engagement and overall experience, fostering a sense of connection and support, as students navigate their academic and professional journeys.
