IIDA Delta Regional Chapter IDEA Gala 2024

The 2024 IIDA Delta Regional Chapter Interior Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) Gala celebrated the best of interior design in the region, gathering top designers and industry leaders on Saturday, October 5, 2024. This annual event recognized outstanding projects and talent, showcasing the innovation and creativity shaping the built environment across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas. The New Orleans Jazz Market provided an ideal setting for this prestigious awards, offering a unique blend of culture, history, and artistic flair. As a celebration for design professionals across the Delta region, the event spotlighted exceptional achievements in various categories, from corporate interiors to hospitality design, highlighting emerging trends and honoring those who push the boundaries of what interior spaces can accomplish.

AOS is proud to have three of our talented Designer/Project Managers on the IIDA Delta Regional Chapter Board of Directors, where their dedication and expertise play a vital role in advancing the chapter’s mission to advocate for, educate, and empower the interior design community across the region: Heidi Meibaum, President; Alecia Mancuso, VP Membership; and Kayla Brown, Baton Rouge City Center Co-Director.

AOS was also thrilled to see several projects we contributed to recognized during the IDEA Galas Among these was Tulane University’s River and Lake Residence Halls by EskewDumezRipple, The Exchange Pickleball and Bar by VergesRome Architects, and Chapter IV restaurant by Holly & Smith Architects.

Award of Excellence – Government/Institutional, Large

Tulane University’s River and Lake Residence Halls, designed by EskewDumezRipple, represents a major transformation in student housing. These seven-story buildings offer 230,000 square feet of living and learning spaces, which includes study rooms, a gaming area, and spaces for campus events. Available to sophomores and juniors, the residence halls feature double-height lounges, communal kitchens, and tranquil outdoor areas that seamlessly blend with the campus landscape, creating a supportive environment for student life and academic growth.

The Exchange Pickleball and Bar

VergesRome

Award of Recognition – Retail, Large

The Exchange Pickleball + Bar, designed by Verges Rome Architects, is an adaptive reuse project in New Orleans’ Lower Garden District, turning a 70-year-old warehouse into a 26,000-square-foot hub for sports and socializing. The design maintains the character of the original structure while creating a vibrant, modern space that features six indoor pickleball courts, an outdoor court, and unique social areas, including two bars and an outdoor lounge with a fireplace. This “sip and serve” venue brings a fresh twist to the local scene, blending active recreation with casual dining, making it a favorite spot for families and tourists alike.

Award of Recognition – Hospitality, Small

At Chapter IV, Chef Edgar “Dook” Chase IV continues his family’s legacy by bringing together New Orleans flavors, art, and community in a space that celebrates the generations of culinary tradition he inherits. Located in Tulane University’s Thirteen15 complex, the restaurant features mid-century modern-inspired interiors by Holly + Smith Architects, with bright, nostalgic finishes that complement its contemporary edge. Chapter IV offers various seating options and showcases artwork from African American artists, curated by Chase to reflect themes of cultural heritage. The restaurant serves New Orleans and Creole dishes with Chase’s unique twist, offering breakfast, lunch, and a lively Sunday brunch that, along with the art and ambiance, keeps guests engaged with the spirit of the city.
