Caesars Superdome Capital Improvements

The Caesars Superdome has been an iconic landmark for New Orleans and Louisiana since its opening in 1975. Originally designed by renowned Louisiana architects Curtis & Davis, the 2,000,000-square-foot stadium holds the distinction of being the largest fixed dome structure in the world. With a seating capacity of 68,000, it serves as the home of the New Orleans Saints NFL team and hosts an impressive array of events and concerts year-round, contributing close to $600 million in annual economic impact to the state of Louisiana. Recognized as a historic structure, the Superdome is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, cementing its status as an architectural and cultural treasure.

In 2017, the Superdome tapped Trahan Architects to develop a masterplan aimed at modernizing the stadium while preserving its historical significance. A couple years later, the Capital Improvements Projects began, which focused on enhancing fan experiences and maximizing the facility’s functionality without altering its iconic footprint. By strategically reclaiming over 100,000 square feet of public space and 50,000 square feet of back-of-house areas, the project transformed the Superdome’s layout to improve accessibility, operational efficiency, and amenity spaces.

The Caesars Superdome’s renovations required strategic planning with installations and upgrades completed during the NFL off-season to minimize disruptions to business. For a high-traffic venue like this indoor stadium, the selection of commercial furniture required a balance of durability, style, and functionality. Leveraging a range of manufacturers on the Louisiana State Contract, AOS worked with Trahan Architects to provide furniture solutions that can withstand the rigors of a bustling facility while matching the building’s impressive new interiors. This allowed the project to achieve exceptional value and remain within budget. The high-end designs contribute to the overall enhanced experience, which aims to offer the best in quality and service. Across the new premium spaces, warm neutral finishes like gold, brown, black, and gray balance the modern design, creating an inviting and deluxe atmosphere.

With these capital improvements completed, the Caesars Superdome is now prepared to host Super Bowl LIX in 2025 ahead of its 50th anniversary, bringing fans from across the nation to enjoy a world-class experience. The state-of-the-art design delivers more, efficiency, more space and more options for guests, keeping the Superdome competitive with newly constructed stadiums. The modernizations underscore the Superdome’s commitment to delivering unforgettable events and cementing its legacy as a premier destination for sports and entertainment.
