The Exchange Pickleball + Bar, located in the Lower Garden District of New Orleans, is a premier destination combining the fast-growing sport of pickleball with a dynamic social experience. To create the new facility, Verges Rome Architects transformed a 70-year-old warehouse to create the 26,000-square-foot adaptive reuse project. The building’s renovation and addition were meticulously planned to preserve the character of the original structure while creating a fun, vibrant environment.
The Exchange features six indoor courts and one outdoor court, providing ample space for pickleball enthusiasts of all levels. With a “sip and serve” approach, the facility has two bar and seating areas—one near the lobby and another among the indoor courts. These social spaces provide convenient spots for casual dining and refreshments. Courtside seating also allows observers to enjoy the action up close. Additionally, an outdoor fireplace lounge and dining area offer a cozy atmosphere for recreation and relaxation. The thoughtfully designed spaces, with its variety of memberships and event rentals, have made it an ideal venue for social gatherings and corporate events, as well as one-on-one lessons, clinics, and open play sessions. With its inviting design, The Exchange has quickly become a beloved spot for families, locals, tourists, and convention attendees.
